Last week on our tour through New England, we had the privilege of staying at our pal Dougbob’s farm in Mill River, a small town nestled in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. Before driving to Boston we spent the day swimming, drinkng, eating, and even taking a few hours to sit around and play totally acoustically, a rarity for us. Roadblock had to play the banjo (probably for the 2nd time ever) and Metalbelly and Riddleberger played some random percussion found in Dougbob’s house. We played about a dozen random songs and the sessions were filmed. This footage was shot by Harris Mendheim, who traveled with us for 3 days of the tour, filming, taking pictures, and tormenting us with a variety of creatively sadistic wake up calls each morning. Amazingly, he also coerced us to learn this song, which he had been singing nonstop for the past few weeks.
The only audio was taken directly off the camera, hence the drastic changes in dynamics. This was a relatively unrehearsed experiment, but the footage turned out to look pretty cool. We will probably film more of these soon.
You can see more songs from these so-called “1740 Sessions” on our Videos page.
