Corn Money named Album of the Year!?!

January 5th, 2011

Ah, we sure do love them Colorado mountain towns…. The air is pristine, the views are stunning, and the people are not only friendly, but they have eccentric and unpredictable taste in music.  With all humility though, we were indeed surprised and honored to make Chris Aaland’s top ten albums of 2010 in the Durango Telegraph. Nevermind that he slipped us in the number one spot! We’re humbled when anyone says good stuff about our music, much less rank it above rock legends. Suspend your disbelief and read the list here (scroll down after clicking).  This gives us new meaning to Romance in Durango

NYC fans, Round Up! Big Show at Sullivan Hall, 1/10/11

December 31st, 2010

Calling all New York friends and fans! We will be playing at Sullivan Hall, Monday January 10, 2011, as part of an APAP showcase (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) for Charisma Artist Agency.  It’s a tremendous bill of great music including our good friends Jan Bell & The Maybells and the Two Man Gentleman Band, whom we haven’t shared a bill with since our first US tour many moons ago. Also on the bill will be old-school jazz from the George Cole Quintet and a fiery set from bass-slappin’ gypsy folk rockers, Fishtank Ensemble.  Order of performers is listed as on the flyer; Defibs should take the stage around 11.  Come support yer Defibulators for this muy importante show!

Tiny Apartment Concerts

December 26th, 2010

We recently had the pleasure of playing the Tiny Apartment Concert series in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The apartment was indeed tiny, but the good time vibe was huge. The crowd consisted of a hand-picked group of only the elite-est of the elite tastemakers and entrepreneurs in NYC. We’re talking music apprecianados, international diplomats, fish oil tycoons, pet fashionistas…you name it. The creme de la creme of who’s who and why’s why. Somebody said Kanye was there with Vladimir Putin, but I wouldn’t have known because the place was so damn crowded. Everyone of course contributed to the smorgasbordial pot luck and Buffalo Trace provided the bourbon in sippy pouches…naturally.
Thanks to Elayna, Lauren, and everyone who concocted this unique, badass event.

Music Fog

September 21st, 2010

While at the Americana Festival in Nashville we had the honor of taping a few tunes for Music Fog. Yes, they did get us out of bed effin early, but we made it – just barely. It was the morning after our Basement show and we really tied one on that night. I think Roadblock’s solo says it all. Big thanks to Jessie, Aaron, and the entire crew at Music Fog – they worked tirelessly and missed out on most of the conference to do their thang. And what a noble thang it is. You can read the the cool write up Jessie did on us here. And check out the amazing endless archives they have on their site. www.musicfog.com
